Coded Auth
When a more simple method of authentication is required, Coded Auth provides you a balanced and secure approach to access restrictions. Much like setting a passphrase on your wireless network itself, Coded Auth allows your guests to use a simple string of characters to gain access (or prevent access by those who do not know the password).
However there is a BIG difference and some obvious advantages of the Coded Auth module over a WiFi Passphrase.
Multiple codes can exist at the same time
Different codes can provide different access levels or experiences
Codes can be rotated slowly by adding a new one but not removing the old one until later, allowing existing guests to cycle out or give time to inform them of the change
Note: Coded Auth relies on Plans having been created, so set those up before you configure this module.
Setting Codes
The configuration of this module is available within the Access menu:
Existing codes are listed in the main window and you use the same table to add or disable codes.
Adding new Codes
On a line that has a “Disabled” plan, enter a code and select a plan. The Period is the number days for which need to pass before this code is able to be used again by a given guest device. The most common way to use this module is to have plans be for a time limit of 24 hours or less so that a new voucher can be issued each subsequent day.
Disabling Codes
Change the “Plan” on the code you wish to disable to “Disabled” and click save. That code is now disabled an no longer will be matched on.
Changing a Code
As you would expect, simply change the code you wish to make different and click save.
