Creating Plans

Plans as use used as the basis of several modules within the 4WiFi Platform and form an important basis of understanding as to how your guests can gain access to the internet. Plans can be used to create Printable Vouchers or they can be automatically assigned from modules such as CodedAuth or Email Survey.

Accessing the Plans configuration is done through the Access menu and the Plans item within it.

The currently configured plans are displayed in the table on the right of the screen, while creating new plans or editing existing ones is done on the left of screen.

Adding Plans

Adding a new plan is done when first loading the Plans screen, or after completing editing of an existing plan. There is no limit to the number of plans you can create, but adding too many will become harder to manage.

  • Plan Name must be at least 5 characters long.

  • Time Limit is the amount of time from the first time a voucher of that plan is activated until the time when the voucher will expire and no longer function.

  • Data Limit is the amount of data that can be consumed by a user before the voucher will expire and no longer function.

  • Data Counted can be Per Device or Per Voucher. The most common way is Per Voucher as it allows multiple devices to share the sum total of the Data Limit. Per Device implies that each unique device using the voucher created on this plan will get its own data limit equal to the number in the above field.

  • Device Limit is the number of guest devices which are allowed to authenticate against a voucher created with this plan.

  • Default Expiration is used when creating Printable Vouchers to give a way to expire vouchers at a given point in time after they were created. This way any value associated with the voucher has a finite lifetime and limits the liability to your property.

  • Download & Upload provide bandwidth speed limitations on guests using this plan.

  • Custom Queues are a more advanced way to apply bandwidth speed limits. Applying these needs knowledge of the structure to create these and while there is a support article with some basic information, it is recommended you consult with our staff before implementing these.

Editing Plans

You can edit existing plans by selecting the “edit” button next to the plan you wish to edit. The same rules for Adding Plans applies and you save them in the same way.
