UnAuthed Devices

The UnAuthed Devices report is available in the Guest Internet menu:

It will provide a real-time list of devices which have connected to the Hotspot Controller on your site but for whatever reason have not successfully authenticated to the internet. This may be because they have run out of data or their voucher has expired, or it may be because their device is unable to access a Captive Portal.

The system will search historically to see which vouchers the MAC address has been associated with in the past to help you try to identify devices more easily.

It is possible to do 3 different actions from this point:

  • Kick device allows you to remove the user from the list and if the device re-connects it will then attempt to authenticate again. This is useful if you have added the device manually to a Voucher or Perm Access module and would like to trigger it to log on.

  • Temp 10min access will give the device in question a free 10 minutes access, this can be useful in trying to determine if the device you are looking at is indeed the physical device you are working with. Once the time runs out, the device will likely show back up in this list. Saving the MAC address will help you work with it later.

  • Allocate to voucher will let you select a pre-existing voucher to associate this device to.

For the most part, this area of the system provides ways to work around specific devices and limitations with them not having correctly implemented Captive Portal solutions.
